Milani Infinite Liquid Liner...MAC liquidlast dupe?

>> Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I'm on a MAC dupe roll! ...kinda :). I recently purchased Milani's Infinite Liquid Liner from cherryculture as a part of a haul you can check out here. This was in efforts to save me a couple bucks from always purchasing MAC's liquidlast liner. I swear I go through that MAC liner like a baby goes through diapers. I love it! MAC's liquidlast is the perfect liner! Its very black, and stays that color for as long as your wearing it! Also, it lasts a LONG LONG LONG time (hence the name) through sweat, humidity and even tears!!! Although not recommended, you can sleep with that liner, toss and turn, rub your eyes, and wake up looking EXACTLY THE SAME. Its amazing. The only negative about it is that its $16.50 for .084 oz. Using this almost everyday, one tube will last me about 2 months or less. Towards the end of of usage the consistency of it gets really goopy and hard to work with as well.

So Ive read a lot of raves about Milani's Infinite Liquid Liner and I thought at $5.99, its worth a shot. Oh and if your interested in it as well or any other Milani products, cherry culture is having a %15 off sale!!!

Back to the liner...as you will see in pics, Milani's eyeliner doesn't have a true black color to it, Its sort of a really really dark charcoal. This doesn't bother me though as Ive used this a few times and it looks just as black.

The Breakdown
Can you tell I need a job? LOL. So basically Milani's Infinite liner fufills EVERYTHING that I was raving about on my rant above for the liquidlast liner. It last through whatever, has a very black color and  its less than half the price!!!

One thing to note is that Milani has a more limited color selection than MAC. Again, this doesn't bother me because I only use black. Also, Milani's liner takes a wee bit longer to dry (maybe 5 seconds at the most).

Point Black on left, Everlast right

 Swatches, with and without flash
Everlast is in the left, Point Black right. You can see that Point Black dries in a matte finish

Rubbed after 15 seconds. I think I rubbed the Milani one too quickly, Since the Milani one takes longer to dry, it smeared easy. I will say that I've worn the Milani liner and the lasting power proved just as strong as MAC's

Where to buy
You can buy Milani's Infinite Liner here
You can buy MAC's liquidlast here

Has anyone tried Milani's Eye Tech Liquid Liner? I want to try that one because I like the felt applicator but I wonder if it has the same lasting power as the Infinite one...

Well, thats all folks!

Milani Secret Cover Concealer (update)

>> Tuesday, May 11, 2010

I just wanted to do a quick update on my post for Milani's Secret Cover Concealer. You can read the original post here. Ive been using this for a couple days now so I think some adjustments need to be made on the CONS section in my original post.

I wrote that one of the CONS of the concealer was that it condensates and doesn't last long. Boy was I wrong about that. This concealer lasts extremely long, and it is very waterproof. I actually have difficulty removing this when washing my face. What I will say about this concealer is that it is temperature-sensitive. When there is a lot of humidity in the air, the concealer will start to condensate and become creamy, and when the air is dry and the temperature cooler, the consistency of the concealer hardens and does not produce any condensation. Today was a cool day with little humidity so when I put this concealer on this morning it was very hard. It was difficult to apply with a concealer brush as I usually do so I used my fingers. Although hard this concealer did blend quite well around my eyes without me tugging the skin or what not. Hot or cold, this concealer still performs very well, I would even count that as a negative.

Also, I would note that the concealer only comes in 6 shades, and the one I purchased which is the Warm Beige is the lightest one they have. So if you're lighter than NW25/NC30, there may not be a shade for you. You also have to be weary of shopping for it online, as the color picture online does not match the color it is in person.

Here is the swatch for warm beige

Here is the picture online for Warm Beige.
You can see the extreme difference in color

All in all I still highly recommend this concealer. Seriously, I cannot stress enough, if you are NW25-NC30 get this concealer!!! Its that amazing

Please note that I am not affiliated with the brand in any way shape or form and I bought this with my own money (They should be paying me for this shit though :P)

Milani Secret Cover Concealer

I recently got my haul of items from Cherry Culture and I am very pleased with my order. I was looking for a good cheap concealer that matches more closely to my skin color than the one I'm using now. Prior to this I was using NYX jar concealer in yellow, which works great but only when I use foundation over it because the color of the concealer is very bright. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that concealer but there are some days that I don't want to cake my face, I just want to throw on some concealer and go. Since I love the NYX jar concealer so much I picked up another one, this time in beige and this Milani concealer in Warm Beige. They were both around $5 each. After I tried this Milani concealer, I don't even think I'm going to touch the NYX one, I love it! It blends in with my skin perfectly. If you are NW25-NC30, I highly recommend you get one of these.

PROS:
- pigmentation is great, I can see this covering EVERYTHING!
- matches my NW25/NC30 skin perfectly
- you get a lot for less. At just $5, your getting 7.7 grams, to put in perspective, a MAC paint pot is only 5.5 grams
- creamy, easy to blend
CONS:
- doesn't last as long as the NYX jar concealer
- for some reason (may be the weather) this concealer condensates in the jar. I tried taking more pictures of it but since I was using my jacked up camera I couldn't get it to focus when I was close up. Ill probably have better pictures when Anthony and I move in together since he has one of those expensive cameras

Here's the rest of my haul. I LOVE the NYX lip gloss I got in Mauve. More swatches and FOTD to come soon!

Milani Blush

>> Wednesday, May 5, 2010

This is one of my favorite blushes at the moment. It is Milani Minerals Blush in Luminous. Ive heard that this is a great dupe for NARS orgasm. I have yet to try NARS orgasm so I would love any input from anyone who has it. This is a very sheer blush, its difficult to capture in photos (w/ a regular camera) but looks amazing in person. It is a peachy-pink color that has a nice gold shimmer to it. This blush is a perfect pair to any smokey or dramatic eye look, and it since it is sheer you can still wear it as an everyday blush.

PROS:
- Inexpensive ($5.99)
- Can be found at your local drugstore
- Great color
- Animal cruelty free!
CONS
- Doesn't last long
NEUTRAL (can be good or bad based on person preference):
- Very Sheer
- Shimmery

close up, no flash

with flash

The compact comes with its own brush and mirror on the reverse side of the pan

You can kind of see the shimmer to it here. Sorry the picture quality isn't great, I don't have photoshop or anything I can only crop my pics :/

Here's a quick 5 min face I did using that blush, as you can see it is very sheer

All in all I would definitely purchase this blush again, I could see this becoming a staple for me
