San Bruno Fire
>> Saturday, September 11, 2010
I wanted to touch up on the post below regarding the massive gas station explosion this past week in San Bruno. As I mentioned prior, I know what it feels like to lose almost everything in a fire, the only things I didn't lose were the most important of all - my family and pets. Its amazing how fast a fire can grow and destroy and its isnt easy picking up where you left off and starting your whole entire life from scratch. I could only imagine how much for difficult it is for people that have lost more than I did.
One teacher from the college I go to lived a couple houses away from that gas station. When it has exploded, she heard a big bang and felt the house shake. Thinking it was an earthquake, she rushed outside to check on her two children playing in the backyard. As soon as she stepped outside she watched in horror as houses in her neighborhood exploded one by one. She grabbed her kids and ran inside unknowing that her whole back and hair were engulfed in flames.
Many are injured, homeless and the death toll is rising. If you are interested in making donations, please click here. Even if you are unable to donate to this specific fund, I STRONGLY suggest that you contact your local Red Cross or fire relief fund and donate there. You never know when something like this is going to happen, and those affected will need whatever they can get.
God Bless,
Leah
